The Life of a Butterfly

A butterfly changes in an amazing way. It starts as a tiny egg on a leaf. Out hatches a hungry caterpillar that eats and eats and grows bigger. When it is ready, the caterpillar makes a hard case called a chrysalis around itself. Inside, it slowly changes. After a while, the case opens and a beautiful butterfly comes out to spread its wings and fly. This whole change is called metamorphosis.
